Maternity AND Newborn
Vancouver, Harrison/Agassiz + Kelowna Photographer
To all expecting parents, I encourage you to take this opportunity to capture these fleeting moment in your life. Maternity photos celebrate the strength of pregnancy and the loving anticipation of welcoming your baby into the world. Newborn photos, on the other hand, highlight the innocence and precious features of your baby’s tiny form—a glimpse into their earliest days of life. Imagine sharing these photos with your child one day, showing them the beautiful journey of their beginnings.I love looking back on my photo albums and reminisce on times past.
Capture as many moments as possible during your journey with your growing family. This time is ever-changing, so if you’re hesitant about maternity or newborn photography, my suggestion is to just say yes! Jump in and do it!I’ve never regretted capturing my memories in photos to look back on. I remember delaying my own photography sessions during both pregnancies and feeling panic as time drew closer.
Whether it’s a loving embrace with your partner, playful interactions with siblings, or capturing the serene innocence of your newborn, these sessions are a chance to preserve this unique chapter in your family’s story. Sessions can be scheduled in a outdoor setting or a cozy home environment, tailored to suit your vision and preferences.
Photographing your Journey
The BUMP
When to Book
As soon as you know your due date, go ahead and book a session between 31-34 weeks pregnant. Booking too early can mean you’re barely showing, and booking later can sometimes mean you miss the opportunity because baby decides to come early.
The ANNOUNCEMENT
Baby announcement photos are a joyful and heartwarming way for parents to share the exciting news of their new arrival with family and friends. These photos capture the love and admiration surrounding the anticipating arrival of their little one. From creative props to heartfelt poses, each image conveys the unique personality and excitement of the parents-to-be. Baby announcement photos serve as a beautiful keepsake, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the family’s journey. They are an expression of the unconditional love that fills parents hearts as they eagerly await the arrival of their bundle of joy. Whether shared on social media or sent out as personalized cards, these photos are a beautiful way of inviting loved ones to join in the celebration of new life.
When to Book
Generally recommended to wait until you are past your first trimester, or at least 12 weeks into your pregnancy; however, announcements are when you feel comfortable sharing your news and that could be anytime along the journey.
The nEWBORN
When to Book
Some parents choose to capture photos within 48 hours of birth known as ‘fresh 48’ while others prefer time to settle in at home before having their photos taken. Generally speaking the newborn phase is between 4-12 weeks old. I recommend booking before baby is 4 weeks to capture all the cute little details; however, consider your comfort and make a choice that resonates with you.
