Married Among
the wild flowers

Madeleine and Aaron’s wedding day at VanDusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver, BC, was nothing short of magical. The lush, expansive gardens provided a breathtaking backdrop, with vibrant greenery, blooming flowers, and tranquil water features for all to enjoy. Everywhere you turned, nature offered something beautiful — from the delicate petals of the garden roses to the towering trees covering the paths. A dream venue offering countless opportunities for stunning photographs.

The day began with a special first glance, where Aaron saw Madeleine for the first time. Set in a secluded part of the gardens, away from the busy preparations, allowing for a quiet, intimate moment. Aaron stood with his back turned, nervous but excited, while Madeleine approached him, her dress flowing softly behind her. When he finally turned around, his expression was pure awe. The weight of the moment hit them both as Aaron’s eyes filled with emotion, seeing his bride in her gown for the first time. They where both all smiles as they embraced, soaking in the significance of what was to come. It was a brief, private pause before the excitement of the day truly began, and the moment gave them a chance to share their love before everyone else joined in.

The ceremony took place on the Great Lawn, a stunning open space surrounded by the gardens forage. The weather had been unpredictable all morning, with chances of light showers. But as if perfectly timed, the rain paused for moments throughout the day for Madeleine and Aaron to exchanged vows and capture meaningful photos while leaving behind a fresh scent in the air.

Not a detail was missed, and I made sure to capture it all for Madeleine and Aaron to cherish forever, especially their wedding bands that were custom designed and crafted at Zadel Jewelry Studio on Granville Island by an incredible husband-and-wife duo who specialize in bespoke jewelry. Both rings were made using material from Aaron’s grandmother’s ring, which gave them deep, personal significance. For Madeleine’s wedding band, the designer skillfully incorporated elements from the motif and shape of her engagement ring, creating a beautiful and cohesive set. Aaron’s ring was just as unique, featuring silver upcycled from one of his old rings that no longer fit, perfectly complementing the mixed metals in Madeleine’s rings. These thoughtful details made their wedding bands not just symbols of their union, but also a meaningful connection to their family histories.
